Another Breakfast in the MDR

It was our second-last day on the ship but our last day at sea. On previous cruises, our last sea day also happened to be our last day of the cruise, which we definitely prefer. I like my last day of vacation to be relaxing which is more easily done when you are forced to stay on the ship!

We decided to head back to the main dining room for breakfast on our last sea day. The breakfast menu did not change daily like the supper menu. Today, I opted for the eggs benedict with a fruit platter while Jordan chose the “express breakfast”, which is a combination of many items. Unlike our first breakfast in the main dining room, we sat alone this time.

Spa Day

Prior to going on this cruise, I really wanted to book the spa package online. I am unsure if they still offer this promotion, but you could access the spa all week for a super affordable price. Of course, once we got on the ship, it cost nearly the same price just for one day. However, after our tour of the spa on day one, we decided to splurge. For one day access to the spa, it cost $96 US. This allowed us to use all spa facilities and access the designated spa outdoor deck, however, did not include the price of any additional treatments such as massages, facials, etc.

The port side deck outside the spa offered cushioned loungers, where as the starboard side had the regular loungers that are available on all decks. We napped on the port side for a while but the sun was shining on that side of the ship and it was extremely hot. After a while, we moved to the other side to enjoy the shade, but I wish the cushioned loungers were available on that side as well. There is also a hot tub outside that is only available to those with spa access.

Inside the spa, we enjoyed the aromatherapy showers, the whirlpool bath, steam rooms and the two saunas. I also liked the salt room, but Jordan thought it was boring. The snow room was neat to try but we have enough snow at home that we are trying to escape from! Jordan tried the geysers but I did not. Also, one of the steam rooms did not work while we were there, which was disappointing.

There was water available in the spa but no alcoholic beverages. I think they should offer a small bar service (or even just fruit and water) to those lounging outside in the spa area. Overall, I don’t necessarily feel that we got our money’s worth for one day, however, if you can get access for the week for a discounted price, it would be worth it! It is quite relaxing and it was nice to escape from the hustle and bustle of the ship for a while.

Elegant Night #2

Cruises tend to celebrate elegant night on sea days and this one was no exception. After a relaxing day at the spa, we headed back to the room to get ready for supper. I was determined to get a professional photo of us on the Swarovski stairs that night! I like to buy one or two professional photos each trip.

For supper, I had the Smoked Swordfish and Prawn as a starter while Jordan had the Beef Carpaccio. I did not like mine at all which is strange because I’m normally such a lover of seafood! It was really smoky and served cold, which I wasn’t a fan of. For our mains, we both chose the Prime Rib which was really good. I had a Baked Alaska for dessert which was just okay, while Jordan went with the Brownie Stack. Service was slower than usual this night.

Evening Adventures

After supper, we changed back into our swimwear and headed back to the spa. We figured we may as well get the most out of our money! As expected, it was pretty quiet as most people were getting ready for supper.

After the spa, we decided to go to the casino and try our luck. We usually spent $20 each in the casino on every cruise. We always lose it, hence why we limit ourselves! I lost mine way faster than Jordan.

After that, we headed to the Shine Bar and watched The Beatles tribute in the atrium. As per our usual bedtime routine, we headed to Venchi where Jordan enjoyed an Affogatto and I had the espresso with 3 pralines. If you want to try the chocolates, this is the way to do it! Otherwise, you would have to pay for the chocolates separately. However, this combo is covered with the drink package and you get to choose three chocolates! I was disappointed by the orange peel chocolate which looked amazing but the others were really good.

After all that eating, I was sadly too full to enjoy any pizza before bed. I guess there’s a first time for everything!
